Class Final

Class/ Self Evaluation
2. What I liked about this class is, during the end of the semester we had the chance to make our own website. I really like setting it up and having a chance to play around with the different kinds of codes and seeing what I can make with different letters and numbers. What I didn’t like was that we students don’t really have the chance to give our own opinions about things and we don’t get to express ourselves more often.
B. I think that we should be able to talk to our shoulder partner more about the topic. I also think that we should be allowed to give our own opinions.
 3.  I honestly feel that I didn’t try my 100% best in this class. I believe that I could have done much better. For example, I could have brought my 100+ goal book more and I could have been paying a lot more attention. I tried being a better CTR person when it came to doing things for others and helping people.

4. I am not committed to being a CTR person. The reason why I’m not committed to being a CTR person is because I know that I’m not a person that can just stop certain things. For example, I will make mistakes sometime and I would be afraid to own up to them. I am someone who will lie when I am afraid of telling the truth. I will try to be a better CTR person so that I don’t have to live with regrets.

Six Ways to Make People Like you. If you want people to like you...

Six Ways to Make People Like you. If you want people to like you...

Rule 1. become genuinely interested in other people.

Rule 2. Smile

" Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says, " i like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you"
"You don't feel like smiling? Then force yourself to smile."

"It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign (witness or indication) of friends."
I think that smiling is very important, especially when you meet new people. Smiling just gives off the vibe that you aren't that much of a serious person and that you don't mind meeting and interacting with new people. Smiling is also good because it shows other people that you are a friendly person and it makes them more comfortable in talking to you. When you smile to others, it may also help you feel better because you feel more positive throughout the day.

Rule: Remember Names
1) " A mans name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language."
2) " If you don't remember names, you are headed for trouble."

Remembering names is really important when you meet someone for the first time. It would look really bad on your part if you were to forget their name. They might think that you aren't interested in being their friend. Some people get really offended when you forget their name or when you even call them by a different name. Remembering names is also important because you don't want people thinking that you aren't a good friend, you also don't want them to stop talking to you. Sometimes when people get called a different name, they could get sad because they might be interested into being your friend and they could get hurt by something so simple as forgetting their name. Maybe you should ask what their full name is so that they can tell you their name and you wouldn't look bad because you forgot their name.
Some simple ways to remembering people names are:
  • Repeat them
  • Ask them what their full name is
  • Ask another person what their name is
  • listen carefully when they are first telling you what their name is
If it is a unique name, ask them what the name means

Rule 4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
" If you aspire to be good conversationalist, be an attentive listener."
"Remember that the man you are talking to is a hundred times more interested in himself and his wants and his problems than he is in you and your problems."

When i talk to new people, I always like to listen to their stories and i love getting to know them better. I feel like it helps you connect with them more. If you are listening to what they are saying, you might catch things that are in common between the two. I feel like if you pay attention and if you listen to them properly, they would find a high interest in you. I mostly see if people are actually paying attention to what I'm saying, other than just pretending to listen to me without even knowing what I'm talking about. If you are being a good listener, you could also help them with their problems that they are having. Some people just need to vent things out and it would be very helpful if you would just listen to them because you might be the only person that would help them.
5 Steps to good listening

  1. stay focused, natural eye contact, don't judge and stay patient.
  2. Really listen don't think about similar experiences and what you should say next.
  3. Allow for periods of silence. Wait till the other person speaks again.
  4. repeat the other persons words or paraphrase them back to them.
  5. Understand the emotions behind the words.

Rule 5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest.
"The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."

I don't think that this is a good idea. You should also be about to talk about your interest and to talk about yourself. Unless it is an interview then you should be about to interview yourself. Personally, I wouldn't want to talk about that person the whole entire conversation. I would like to talk about myself and to talk about my interests. I wouldn't have the patience to sit down, and to talk about just one person. Honestly, I would loose interest and I wouldn't even be listening to that person anymore.
Rule 6: Make the other person feel important- and do it sincerely
" The desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature." (John Dewey) " Helping people feel important and appreciated works magic."
I think that you should make the other person feel important. It just shows that you have an interest in them and that you care about them. People like to feel like they matter and by showing them that you care about them will make them feel better about themselves. When i am talking to someone, i would like them to show that i am important because it will make me feel better about myself and it would make me feel like the person that i am talking to likes me, in a friendly way. Making people feel important also shows that you care for others and you dont put people down.

Reflection: I feel like all of these thing will help you when you are trying to make new friends and when you meet new people. You should always show that you are a good listener and that you care about the person that you are talking to. People like to see that kind of stuff when you are talking to them. It shows that you find interest in them and it will make them like you.

Glenn Cunningham

Glenn Cunningham was involved in a life threatening fire at the age of 7. His legs were severely burnt. The doctors came to the conclusion that he was not able to walk anymore due to the burns on his legs. Since Glenn had over heard his neighbors talking to his mother about Glenn being immobile for the rest of his life, Glenn took it upon himself to say that he was going to walk again and that he wasnt going to give up. He had said that he wanted to become a doctor and run for the Olympics. His dream had come true and he ran for the olymics and won a Bronze metal.

The six attitudes of high achievers

"The Six Attitudes of High Achievers"

High Achievers.....

1. make no small plans

2. Do what they fear

Zayn Malik did what he feared the most. He was terrified to leave One Direction, the famous pop boyband of the century. Zayn didn't feel happy with the band anymore. He was going through tough times, eventually feeling and looking depressed. He just wasn't happy anymore. He was scared to leave the band because of the fans. He was scared to leave them because they have been by the bands side for 5 years, but he wanted to leave the band. He had to and he couldn't continue pretending to be happy, so he left. March 25, 2015 was the day that it was announce that Zayn Malik left One Direction. Of course people cried and begged him to come back but he just couldn't do that because it wasn't something that he wanted to do anymore. He feared leaving and now that time has passed, he must realize that hes happier now. He went as a solo artist and has now been signed to RCA Record label. He is happier now because he gets to write his own style of music now. Zayn has taught me that i should just go for whatever i want to do, and that i should care what other people will think or say about me.

3. Are willing to prepare

Some people are willing to prepare for the future and whats to come for them. When they prepare, they make sure that they do Great in school and that they make sure they have everything right for the future. Other people prepare by saving money and making sure that they have everything that they need for what they want. You should always be prepared because you don't know if something might go wrong and then everything that you work for can fail.
4. Are Willing to Risk Failure

I think that if you are willing to risk failure and everything that you have, you will achieve greatness. sometimes you have to take some risks in life and if you don't, then you can be missing out on the important things. Some people risk everything that they have and now they are CEO's of their own companies. People also risk their own health to get where they are today. You just have to take risks in life.

6. Have Heart
People that have a heart are more likely to achieve greatness. If you are nice and you give to people, karma will come back to you and award you with nice things. For example, if you are mean to your employees and you don't treat them with respect, they can quit or maybe report you. If you are nice, they would respect you equally and they would want to continue working for you. People respect others if they get respect back. I also think that having a heart and being a good person is important because people trust you more.

9 ways

Way to Be

9 ways to be Happy and Make Something of your life

Gordon B. Hinckley

1.
Be Grateful
Being grateful is a very important thing to have. When you are grateful, that means that you appreciate the things that you have. For example, during thanksgiving, we give thanks for the things that we have. Its imortant to be grateful for the things that you have because some people don't have anything.

2.
Be Smart
Being smart is very important in life. Not just smart as in School wise but smart as in Street smart or other things. I think that being street smart is important because you have to know certain things when you are out on the street, especially if you are by yourself. Being smart helps you know things about life and it prepares you for the future.

3.
Be Involved in Good Works
Being involved in Good Works is very important because you help people with certain things. You can be involved with groups that help the elderly or that go to hospitals and help people or children that are sick. If you choose being with people that are in gang or smoke weed, then that isnt being good. You should always choose to choose the right. To do good and help others who need it. Instead of just sitting around and doing wrong things, you should use that time to help others.

4.
Be Clean
When it comes to hygiene, being clean is very important. You wouldnt want to go to work or school smelling bad and having people run away from you. You should also clean your house because you wouldnt want it to look bad infront of friends and family. To me, being clean also means that you should be clean when it comes to drugs and alcohol and not doing those things.

5.
Be True
You should always be true to yourself and to others. Being true means that you should be truthful to people. Being truthful is like telling your friends the truth. For example, if you saw someone steal something and the police asked you if you saw, you should say that you saw who did it. Being true to yourself is also important because it means that you are honest and arent a liar.
6.
Be Positive
Being Positive is very important because you have to have a positive attitude. Its not very cool to always be negative and always be the person that is in a bad mood all the time. If you are positive, that means that you are happy and people around you will feel that kind of way. Positive vibes rub off of you and they just spread around and can make others happy. Even if you are in a bad mood, you should try to be happy and think on the positive side of things.

7.
Be Humble
Being humble is important because you aren't an arrogant person and you arent focused on having so much pride in yourself. It is also good to be humble because it shows that you are a generous person and that you are a nice person.

8.
Be Still

9. Be Prayerful

Commitment
Quote:

Reflection: i think that is is a very nice quote. If you commit to your goals then you will surely reach your goals. I feel like commitment is a very big part of reaching your goals because you are dedicated to reach them and it means that you wont stop until all of your goals have been made. Commitment is dedicating yourself to something, and your mind is always set on that.

PDA

" The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have."

Reflection: I agree with this quote 100%. I feel like if you have obedience, you get rewarded with things. For example, when you listen to your parents, they can let you go out with friends or to events from school. They can also with you things, like money or maybe even a new phone. I think that it is important to have obedience because you learn to have patience and you learn other things.

911

September 11, 2001
On September 11, 2001, one of America’s biggest tragedies happened. That day we had four coordinated terrorist attacks launched by the Islamic group al-Qaeda. The attacks killed around 3,000 people and caused millions of dollars’ worth of damage. The two planes that had flown into the North and South towers were, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175. Later, a third plane, American Airlines Flight 77 was crashed into the Pentagon. The fourth plane was targeted at Washington D.C but crashed into a field in Pennsylvania.
Many people were shocked because of this. Many people woke up that day preparing to go to work and simply have a good day. They thought that they would go home later on that day and spend quality time with their families. Never would they have imagined that they would die that day due to a terrorist attack. Many kids, teenagers, wives/husbands thought that their loved one would be home that night when they never returned. I can’t imagine how that felt; Knowing that your loved one wouldn't be back. I find it sad and disgusting that the people who did this had the heart to kill thousands of people. Me being the terrorist, I wouldn't want to do that because I would lose my life.

I don’t understand why we still celebrate this day as if it were something good. If I were a victim I wouldn't want to be reminded about this day. I feel like we should forget about it because even if it was a tragic, we shouldn't be reminded about it. Many people just wish that they could forget about that day and every year we “ show respect” when in reality we are just reminding the people who lost a loved one what had happened and many people don’t want to see how their loved one suffered.

Decisons Determine Destiny

“Decisions Determine Destiny”

This quote is very important in life because it shows that you have to make certain decisions to determine your destiny. This quote relates to our 100+ goals because, the things that we do are our decisions that we make. Those goals help us look forward into our lives and help us reach our goals. Those goals that we decide to make help us determine our future.

Caring

Caring

Definition: displaying kindness and concern for others.

Quote:

Reflection: The picture explains everything. Caring shows that even when you are mad at them, you still care about them. If i was mad at my little sister and someone does something to her, I will always defend her. To me, caring shows that you also love someone.

PDA: Attitude

Personal Development Attribute
Attitude
Definition: a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior.
Quote:

Reflection:  I agree with this quote. For starters, I do believe that this quote is true. When you have a bad attitude towards things, you tend to go no where. You have to brighten up your spirit. When I have a bad attitude, I tend to no want to do anything or not talk to anyone. When that happens,I want to stay home and just shut out the world. When I'm in a great mood, I want to be out with my friends or family, I want to spend time with everyone etc. So, when you have a flat tire, you dont go anywhere, the same goes if you have a bad attitude.

personal development quote

Personal Development Quote
“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

Thomas Carlyle

Attribute: I think one attribute in this quote is that you must have at least one goal in your life that you want to accomplish.

Reflection: I agree on this quote. I feel like you have to have some goals in your life. Without goals, you dont have motivation and without motivation, you dont have anything to push you into doing something good for yourself. I have many goals that i want to accomplish and those goals help me push myself in school. For example, i want to be a succeful person in life, in order to be successful I have to have excellant grades. Those grades will help me get into college and college will help me get into a career of my choice. Goals help you accomplish things in life. Everyone must have a goal or two.

Accountability

Personal Development Attribute
Accountability

Definition:  the fact or condition of being accountable; responsibility.

Quote: I think that this quote contains a lot of meaning when it comes to accountability. It says that when it comes to personal accountability, you have to have Mindfulness, Acceptance, Honesty, and Courage. I think that all of these are true because accountability means that you are responsible. You have to be honest and have courage when it comes to being responsible. If you mess something up, you have to have the courage to own up to your mistakes. Accepting your mistakes so that you don't do them again. Being Mindful so that you may attention and to make sure you don't do it again.
